Step 1: Gather Supplies
Before you begin, it's helpful to gather the materials. You will need the following to remove insects from your paintwork:
– An insect remover specifically designed for cars
– A bucket of warm water
– A soft microfibre wash mitt or a microfibre cloth
– A garden hose or a high-pressure cleaner (optional)
– A shaded area to work in
Step 2: Spray the Insect Remover
Have you gathered all the necessary supplies? Then park your vehicle in a shaded area and make sure the paintwork is not too hot. Then spray the insect remover generously on the areas where insects have accumulated. In addition to the paintwork, don't forget areas such as the windshield, grille, and bumper! Allow the spray to soak in for a few minutes according to the product instructions.
We recommend the following insect removers for the best results:
– Great-Lion – Bug Away
– Great-Lion - Bug Away 5L
Step 3: Gently Scrub
Have you allowed the insect remover to soak in for a while? Then dip the microfibre wash mitt or cloth in the bucket of warm water and wring it out so that it is damp, but not dripping wet. Start gently scrubbing over the areas where you applied the insect remover. Use circular motions and do not apply too much pressure to prevent scratches. Repeat this step until the insects are completely removed.
We recommend the following cloths and wash mitts:
– Truckssupply – Wash mitt
– Microfibre cloths Pro
– Great-Lion – Flexible Hand Pad Velcro + microfibre hand polishing pad
Step 4: Rinse
Have you removed all the insects? If not, repeat the process from step 2. All removed? Then rinse the vehicle thoroughly with water, preferably using a garden hose or high-pressure cleaner. Make sure to remove all residues of the insect remover and insect remains. Check that there are no stubborn insect remains left, otherwise this can still damage your paintwork: of course, we want to prevent that!
Step 5: Dry and Wax
Once you have rinsed off all residues of the insect remover and insects, you can dry your vehicle and apply wax. Use a clean, dry microfibre cloth for this. Never use the same cloth you used to remove insects or other dirt, as this can cause scratches. If you wish, you can also apply car wax to protect the paintwork and give it a shiny finish. Wax also helps prevent dirt (and thus insects) from adhering to the paintwork as easily.
We recommend the following waxes:
– Truckssupply – Fast Wax (spray)
– Truckssupply – Cream Wax (cream)
– Great-Lion - High Gloss Quick Detailer (spray)
- Liquid Elements - Shield Wax Detailer (spray)
