Step 1: Gather Supplies
Before you start, it is helpful to gather the materials. You will need the following to remove the bugs from your paint:
– An insect remover specially designed for cars
– A bucket of warm water
– A soft microfiber wash mitt or a microfiber cloth
– A garden hose or a pressure washer (optional)
– A shady place to work
Step 2: Spray the insect remover
Have you gathered all the supplies? Then park your vehicle in a shady spot and make sure the paint is not too hot. Then spray the insect remover liberally on the places where insects have accumulated. In addition to the paint, don't forget the places such as the windshield, grille and bumper! Let the spray work for a few minutes according to the instructions on the product.
We recommend the following insect removers for best results:
– Rain – X Bug and Tar Remover
– Great-Lion – Bug Away
– Kenotek – Anti-Insect
Step 3: Gently scrub
Once you’ve let the insect remover sit for a while, dip the microfiber wash mitt or cloth into the bucket of warm water and wring it out so that it’s damp, but not dripping wet. Begin to gently scrub the areas where you applied the insect remover. Use circular motions and don’t apply too much pressure to avoid scratching. Repeat this step until the insects are completely removed.
We recommend the following cloths and wash mitts:
– Truckssupply – Washing glove
– Microfiber cloths Pro
– Great-Lion – Flexible Hand Pad Velcro + Microfiber Hand Polishing Pad
Step 4: Rinsing
Have you removed all the insects? If not, repeat the process from step 2. Removed everything? Now rinse the vehicle thoroughly with water, preferably using a garden hose or pressure washer. Make sure you remove all insect remover residue and insect remains. Check that there are no more stubborn insect remains, otherwise this can still damage your paint: we want to prevent that of course!
Step 5: Drying and Waxing
Once you have rinsed off all the bug remover and bug residue, you can dry your vehicle and apply wax. Use a clean, dry microfiber towel for this. Never use the same towel that you used to remove bugs or other dirt, as this can cause scratches. If you want, you can also apply a car wax to protect the paint and give it a glossy finish. Wax also prevents dirt (and therefore bugs) from sticking to the paint.
We recommend the following wax:
– Truckssupply – Fast Wax (spray)
– Truckssupply – Cream Wax (cream)
Should you have your truck washed? Or do it yourself?
With the above five steps you can effectively remove insects from your truck without causing any damage. We understand that there are certain places on the truck that are difficult to reach. That is why you can also choose to have your truck cleaned at Truckwash1Group. Not only will they make your truck insect-free, they will ensure that you can hit the road shining and clean!
